BJP in Tamil Nadu L. Murugan, who has been in charge as chairman,
took over as Union Minister last week.
Subsequently, L. Murugan’s birth place was mentioned as
Kongunadu on the website of the Central Government.
Following this, some BJP members have been posting comments on
social media calling for the creation of a separate state of
Kongunadu comprising 10 districts from Tamil Nadu,
namely Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Salem, Erode and Krishnagiri.
Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan also took
to Twitter to emphasize this point.
The DMK strongly condemned the BJP’s comment.
Moreover, the AIADMK Deputy Co-ordinator KP Munuswamy
also condemned the notion that Kongunadu should have a separate state.

‘Federal Government’ since the formation of the government.
